When Toarmina's Pizza talks about tradition, we have a lot to talk about. Toarmina's Pizza's history is virtually the history of the Toarmina family. Upon arriving in Detroit, Michigan, 1st generation American, Santa Toarmina, quickly realized that Americans had a different taste for pizza. She felt a sweeter sauce was better suited to the American palate... and she was right. Generations later, Toarmina's Pizza still utilizes Grandma Toarmina's sweet dough and sauce recipes.
While Grandma Toarmina was experimenting to please the people of Detroit, Michigan, another relative of the Toarmina family was also working to satisfy the community with pizza in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Andy Vitale, cousin to the company founder and owner of the Palermo pizza chain, soon made his own discovery – more cheese! Andy found that American pizza eaters loved cheese... and the more cheese, the better!
With this combination of experience, the foundation of Toarmina's Pizza was created. A good crust, sweet sauce, and a lot of cheese are what separates Toarmina's Pizza from the rest.
